Beginners course 2 days with in the Norwegian Canoe Federation NPF


This course will give you a solid platform to start from with in sea kayaking. During two days you’ll learn essential strokes and safety. The course is a mixture of technical training together with an excursion in the archipelago. 


”Våttkort” - what is it?

NPF stands for  ”Norges Padle forbund” and it’s the Norwegian version of the BC ”British Canoeing” system. Norway is known for exposed coastline and deep fiords and many rental stations require this ”Våttkort” as a license to rent kayaks.

This license not only helps the provider to decide what ever you are skilled enough to paddle in the local environment but it also tells you that the provider value safety first.


Course content:

  • Carry and handle the kayak correctly on land

  • Launch and land from the beach and jetty.

  • Efficient forward paddel strokes

  • Stop and reverse

  • Draw stroke sideways

  • Low brace

  • Stern rudders

  • Sveps and turning the kayak

  • Rescues

  • Techniques to prevent injuries

  • Trip planning 

  • Basic safety and sea man ship

  • The right of public access it’s right and limitations.



Previous experience:


Age limit: Minimum 16 years of age and able to swim

  • Instructions 2 days of NPF instructor
